Acupuncture is a collection of procedures involving penetration of the skin with needles to stimulate certain points on the body
In its classical form it is a characteristic component of traditional Chinese medicine. It has been categorized as a complementary health approach. According to traditional Chinese medicine, stimulating specific acupuncture points corrects imbalances in the flow of qi through channels known as meridians.
Because the acupuncture needles penetrate the skin then this is an invasive procedure and not without its risks. Needles should be sterile and ideally single use. The Acupuncturist should be fully trained.
- Bacterial or blood-borne infections
- Nerve damage
- Puncture of a major organ
The risks tend to come from poorly trained acupuncturists, misplacement of needles or needling too deeply rather than by the actual acupuncture treatment itself.
If you have suffered from any of the above issues or if you are suffering any other problems after having acupuncture, contact our specialist team and they will be able to talk to you about your issues and discuss if you have a claim for compensation.
As well as claiming for any pain, suffering and inconvenience, you may be able to claim back additional costs such as:
Remedial Procedures – if you have to have your procedure corrected, the additional cost involved could form part of the claim against the practitioner or company that carried out the original procedure.
Loss of income – if you need to take additional days off work or you are unable to go back to work due to the negligence of the practitioner or company carrying out the procedure, your loss of income will form part of your claim.
